The beauty of the Inland Northwest is undeniable. People here don't even try to describe it; they just take pictures. Yet, despite its beauty, this area, (which includes Okanogan, Douglas, Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille and part of Spokane and Grant Counties) faces significant challenges. Small towns grapple with tight budgets, hindering capital improvements and infrastructure maintenance. Schools lack funding for enhancements, leading to the abandonment of arts programs. Healthcare systems, including dental, vision, and mental health services, are often inaccessible. Veterans in distant regions endure lengthy travels for care. The question remains: Does Olympia recognize the needs of northeastern Washington? Do they even see our needs?
In Springdale, where I reside, new home starts are signaling significant growth in the near future. With an easy 45-minute commute, the southern half of Stevens County is going to become a bedroom community for Spokane. Balancing this growth with the needs of current residents is crucial. My experience on the Springdale Town Council has honed my ability to navigate tight budgets, knowing when to compromise and when to stand firm. Olympia must do more to support small towns and cities.
As a Veteran, I benefit from the VA hospital in Spokane, just an hour's drive for me. However, Vets in Republic or Metalline Falls face a journey that is three times longer. While federal care is vital, Olympia should collaborate with Washington DC to establish satellite clinics in the northern region. Beyond Veterans, many residents lack essential healthcare services. It is 2024 and that is unacceptable.
In 2024, you can choose a representative who sees and cares about your needs—I am that person. In 2024 you have a chance to have a representative in Olympia who sees more than the problem of wolves in our area. Elect me, Paul "Rocky" Dean, and I will fight for you, the residents of Washington's 7th Legislative District.
I would be honored to have your vote.
